🥎 Which athlete stands out? Votes are in for the preseason softball player of the year

Update April 15: Red Lion's Makayla Yelton garnered the most votes.

Weather hasn't done softball players any favors so far this season.

Only two teams have played five games after numerous days of rain, while most have played three or four. Littlestown, New Oxford and South Western are off to fast starts.

There’s plenty of players ready to deliver fantastic seasons. And we are giving readers the chance to pick the athlete you think will make the best case to be named Player of the Year.

Nominees were chosen based on the following criteria: double-digit at-bats with a batting average of at least .500 or double-digit innings pitched with an ERA 4.0 or below.

Statistics are based on results reported to the York Daily Record through Friday, April 5. If you believe a player meets the criteria but isn't listed, please make sure your coach is sending results to scores@ydr.com.

The poll is open through 5 p.m. Monday, April 15.
