Roundup: Bermudian wrestles to fourth place
Bermudian Springs landed in fourth place at Saturday's Carlisle wrestling tournament after strong performances from Noah Fleshman, Brady Linebaugh and Austin Clabaugh.
Fleshman won the 170 pound weight-class with a 6-2 decision over Hempfield’s Tyler Reber.
Linebaugh picked up a second place finish at 285 pounds after Northern York’s Blaine Yinger pinned him in 3:16 and Clabaugh also registered a second-place finish, falling to Shippenburg’s Chandler Olsen by a 5-0 decision.
Biglerville finished in seventh place as Nate Newberry wrangled a second-place finish at 160 pounds and Colton Sentz followed with another second-place finish at 182 pounds.
West York finished in eighth place, Northeastern took 13th, Gettysburg 15th and Fairfield 18th.
King of the Mountain: Northern York's Jon Ross took home the 160-pound title at the King of the Mountain tournament at Central Mountain in Mill Hall. Ross posted a 5-4 decision against Mifflin County's Trenty Hidla after advancing to the final with a 16-4 major decision against South Western's Gage Thomas.
South Western placed 24th of 33 teams at the tournament, which started Friday. The Mustangs' Derek Wilson went 3-1 in the 126-pound bracket. Bethlehem Catholic's Luke Karam defeated him with a 12-1 major decision. Owen Wherley and Thomas both made it to the semifinals, with each going 2-1. Wherley fell to Bethlehem Catholic’s Stephen Maloney by a 7-0 decision in the 145-pound bracket.
Warwick Duals: Dalton Daugherty earned wins in all three of his matches at 126 pounds as Dallastown went 2-1 on the day, beating Manheim Township 61-12 and Kutztown 69-12, while losing to Warwick by a close score of 39-36.
Daugherty racked up three pins as he took down the Blue Streaks’ Jose Perez in 1:35, the Cougars’ Noah Reasoner in 1:32 and the Warriors’ Trevis Esbenshade in 2:37.
LIttlestown went 3-1 with wins against Kutztown (42-27), West Perry (39-24) and Springfield (Delco) (41-21). The Bolts' only loss came at the hands of the hosts, 58-18. Corbin Brown earned three wins at 126 pounds for the Thunderbolts, one of which was a 1:28 pin of West Perry's Justus Stephens.
