Dallastown sophomore Holden Koons advanced to the semifinals of the District 3 Class 3A singles tournament Friday at Hershey Racquet Club.

Koons, the reigning champion at the District 3 tournament, ripped off a pair of straight set victories en route to Saturday's semifinals. The semifinals are scheduled to get underway at noon at Hershey Racquet Club.

In his first match, Koons defeated Waynesboro's Evan Hine 6-1, 6-0 before knocking off Central Dauphin's Jason Kline 6-0, 6-0.

Koons, the YAIAA Class 3A champion, will meet Hershey's Dante Falcucci in the semifinals. The two met early this year in the Wildcats' 4-1 win over the Trojans, where Koons won 6-0, 6-0.

In Class 2A, YAIAA champion Brett Gill of Littlestown defeated ELCO's Mason Bennetch 6-4, 6-4 in the first round. Gill then fell to Lancaster Country Day's No. 3-seed Jonah Rebert 6-0, 6-1 in the quarterfinals.

Koons and Gill were the only YAIAA competitors to win matches at Hershey Racquet Club. Littlestown's Noah DeCampo, York Suburban's Tyr Abendschoen, South Western's Gavin Kenny and Dallastown's Hunter Jones all lost first round matchups in straight sets.
