District 3 football tournament matchups set for York-Adams teams


The Northeastern football team leads a field of nine others from York and Adams counties into the District 3 tournaments that start next weekend.

The Bobcats secured the No. 2 seed in the Class AAA field as the highest-seeded local team. They will host No. 15 Northern Lebanon when the tournament opens at 7 p.m. Friday.

Dallastown, Hanover and Northern York also earned first-round home games.

Here's a look at the other local teams that reached the postseason and who they'll play in the first round.

Class AAAA (16 teams)

No. 7 Dallastown hosts No. 10 Central Dauphin East at 7 p.m. Friday.

No. 11 Red Lion travels to No. 6 Cumberland Valley at 7 p.m. Friday.

No. 12 South Western travels to No. 5 Hempfield at 7 p.m. Friday.

Class AAA (16 teams)

In addition to Northeastern, three other York County teams qualified for the tournament.

No. 8 Northern York hosts No. 9 York Suburban at 7 p.m. Friday.

No. 14 Spring Grove travels to No. 3 Manheim Central at 7 p.m. Friday.

Class AA (eight teams)

No. 4 Hanover hosts No. 5 Biglerville at 7 p.m. Friday.

Class A (four teams)

No. 3 York Catholic travels to No. 2 Steel-High at 7 p.m. Nov. 20.
