York-Adams doubles teams eliminated from District 3 tournament

Dallastown's Christie Friedrich and Angela Friedrich opened the District 3 Class AAA doubles tournament with a straight-set win against Manheim Township's Carolyn Kitsock and Bridget Kelly on Friday at Hershey Racquet Club.

But after the Friedrich sisters' 6-2, 6-3 first-round win, they were knocked out of the quarterfinals by fourth-seeded Alexis Cramer and Corinne Grohoski of Exeter Township by the same score.

The Dallastown team was the only tandem to advance out of the first round on Friday.

Central York's Maddison Mummert and Jenn Elder lost in straight sets, as did New Oxford's Dagney Markle and Brooke Meyer.

In Class AA action, Delone Catholic's No. 4 seed Alyssa and Ellie Neudecker were upset in the first round by Lancaster Catholic's Elle Cubbison and Emily Lent, 6-4, 6-4.

York Suburban's Samantha Clancy and Bailey Cross couldn't win a game against Lancaster Country Day's Grace Zechman and Amy Shields, 6-0, 6-0, in the first round.

York Catholic's Carolyn Thomas and Samantha Schwamb also were eliminated in the opening round, along with Kennard-Dale's duo of Alyssa Miller and Claire Boone.
