Saturday's boys' cross country roundup: York Suburban boys dominate field at PIAA...
Here are Saturday's York/Adams boys' cross country results.
PIAA FOUNDATION INVITATIONAL >> In what is largely a test run for the PIAA championships, the York Suburban boys dominated the boys' blue field at Hershey's Parkview Cross Country Course, coming away with the victory at the ninth Annual PIAA Foundation Invitational race.
Donovan Mears led the Trojans with a sixth-place finish in 17:01, while Bryce Ohl came in ninth at 17:09. Freshman Jarrett Raudensky and junior Peter Wagner added finishes of 11th and 15th, respectively.
Josh Kerr was the final scorer for the Trojans, finishing 35th to give the victors 71 points. Dallas finished as the runner-up with 119 points, while Lake Lehman's Dominic Hockenbury took first place in 16:11.
A pair of YAIAA teams competed in the white field as Delone Catholic finished 13th with 361 points and York Catholic 25th with 604 points. Winchester Thurston took home first place with 101 points while Sewickley Academy's Griffin Mackey and Ben Clouse finished 1-2 in 16:25 and 16:39, respectively.
Delone was led by Will Greene's eighth-place finish in 17:07. The Fighting Irish's Evan Schlosser ran an 18:39 to finish 42nd.
In the gold field, Central York finished 23rd with 652 points with North Allegheny coming home with the title with 76 points. Central Bucks East's Jake Brophy took first in 15:53. Panthers runner Timmy Buzynski finished 82nd with a time of 17:59.
CARLISLE INVITATIONAL >> Gettysburg's Dan Filler crossed the finish line with a time of 16:02 at the 23rd Carlisle Invitational, good enough for 11th place in the boys' challenge race. Downingtown West's Jaxson Hoey took first place in 15:28, and his team finished first with 52 points, easily outdistancing second place Don Bosco Prep with 114.
Other locals with strong finishes were Red Land's Zach Seiger, who finished 19th in 16:28 and Spring Grove's Jordan Maldonado, who just scraped into the top 50 with a 49th-place finish in 17:03. Red Lion's Micah Bodisch added a 57th-place finish in 17:12 to lead the Lions to a 20th-place team finish with 487 points. Gettysburg posted 499 points for 21st place, while Spring Grove finished 23rd with 570 points.
In the boys' champion race, East Pennsboro's Sam Signor finished first in 16:24. Northern York's Jared Kearns was the top local finisher, running a 16:38 for fifth place. Biglerville's Dan Wood was also in the top 10, finishing eighth in 16:53. Northeastern's Noah Hake finished 14th in 17:06.
Other local finishers of note were Northeastern's Brody McElwain, who finished 40th in 17:39, and West York's Connor Schroll, who finished 42nd in 17:40. New Oxford was the highest placing local team, finishing 21st with 546 points, led by Noah Baxter's 67th-place finish in 18:02.
Cornwall won the team title with 53 points. Woodgrove was second with 127.
