Wednesday's tennis roundup: York Suburban beats York Catholic in marathon match

YORK SUBURBAN 4, YORK CATHOLIC 3 >> The Trojans toughed out a win against the Fighting Irish in the Division II game that started Tuesday but was suspended by darkness. York Suburban held a 3-2 lead when play was suspended.

The battle continued Wednesday when York Catholic's Carolyn Thomas and Samantha Schwamb swept Samantha Clancy and Bailey Cross, 6-3, 6-3 in No. 1 doubles.

But Suburban's No. 2 doubles team of Liv Pindzola and Maddy Mcllnay rallied for the decisive victory. Annie Javitt and Erin McBrairty won a first-set tiebreaker, 6-7 (3), before Pindzola and Mcllnay won the next two games, 6-2 and 6-4, to give the Trojans the team victory.

Javitt battled to a three-set victory against Lindsey Hartshorne to keep the Fighting Irish alive. The Trojans' Elizabeth Huh countered with her own three-set victory against Mayra Hernandez.
