Player of the Year

Hunter Betz

Hunter Betz, West York, sr.: Betz was nothing short of spectacular in his senior season. The attacker scored 45 goals and added a league-leading 66 assists — 20 more than the No. 2 assists leader. Betz led the Bulldogs to their first YAIAA title, which he said was their main goal coming into the season.

The Delaware Valley College-commit finished his high school career with 134 goals and 171 assists and was named the coaches' Offensive Player of the Year. He also earned U.S. Lacrosse All-America honors.

Tanner Bolton, Spring Grove, so.: One of just two sophomores on this list, Bolton led the upstart Rockets to a 7-10 season and scored 61 goals, good enough for second in the league behind fellow sophomore Sam Emig. After the Rockets started the season 3-10, they finished with four straight wins with their sophomore midfielder navigating the offense.

Joe Dashler, Red Lion, sr.: Dashler proved to have one of the better all-around skill sets in the league. As a long-stick midfielder, Dashler moved up and scored seven goals while shooting 70 percent on offense. He also recorded a team-high 86 ground balls on defense.

Anthony DeVincent, South Western, jr.: Equipped with his flashy Maryland state flag cleats, the junior attacker dazzled defenses, finishing third in the league with 55 goals and top 10 in assists. As the go-to guy on South Western's offense, DeVincent led the Mustangs in goals in every game this season but one.

Sam Emig, Red Lion, so.: Only a sophomore, Emig burst onto the scene and scored a league-leading 71 goals, while adding 15 assists and 50 ground balls. Emig paced Red Lion's potent offense that averaged 13.6 goals per game on its way to a 13-5 season — its best in four years. If this season was any indication, Emig could be giving opposing coaches headaches for years to come.

Tanner Hale, West York, sr: The Bulldogs have gone 61-19 in the last four seasons, and a big part of that has been the play of their defense. Who's been back there anchoring the back line and keeping the crease clean that whole time? Tanner Hale. The senior wasn't the biggest defender (listed at 5-foot-7, 165 pounds), but he finished his high school career with more than 135 ground balls and was an all-league selection by the coaches.

Ben Hollinger, South Western, sr.: As a team captain for the past two seasons, Hollinger anchored the Mustangs' young defense in front of goalkeeper Nick Raynor and helped South Western increase its win total over last season. Hollinger recorded 98 ground balls and forced 12 takeaways in his senior year.

Collin Mailman, York Suburban, jr.: While leading the Trojans to their second consecutive winning season, Mailman played the facilitator role from the midfield, finishing with 35 goals and 14 assists. The junior was highly respected by opposing coaches, who named him to their all-league first-team.

Frankie Marquet, Dallastown, sr.: When polling coaches around the league, most agreed that Dallastown presented the toughest defense in the area and pointed to Marquet as the main reason why. Marquet was one of just two players in the YAIAA to receive U.S. Lacrosse High School All-American status, according to Wildcats head coach Phil Bates, and he recorded more than 90 ground balls and averaged three takeaways per game.

Brian Prats, Dallastown, sr.: The Wildcats were on the verge of being great this season: Their five losses came by a combined six goals. Prats played a big part in Dallastown's 14-5 season and district playoff appearance. Twice, he scored eight goals in a game, and his 47 goals this season ranked in the top eight in the league.

Tanner Reif, Red Lion, sr.: Reif was one-third of Red Lion's dangerous attack trio, along with Sam Emig and Jac Gemmill. When one of them wasn't scoring, he was typically feeding the ball to one of the other two for a goal. Reif finished second to Player of the Year Betz in assists (46) and ranked in the top 10 in goal scoring (40).

Conrad Rhein, Eastern York, sr.: The senior midfielder posted 52 goals and 33 assists in just 13 games and led the league in points per game (6.5). Rhein finished his high school career as the all-time leading scorer at Eastern York.

Collin Riley, Susquehannock, sr.: The John Carroll University commit was one of the most reliable playmakers in the league, totaling 35 assists and 27 goals on 44 percent shooting. A senior attacker, Riley excelled under Coach of the Year Russ LeBlanc in his high-powered offense and also was named team captain this season.

Shane Silk, Susquehannock, sr: One of two Susquehannock team captains and one of two Warriors to earn first-team honors, Silk was widely regarded as the league's best goalkeeper. He was named the coaches' Defensive Player of the Year after leading the league with a 62 percent save percentage. Silk will play college lacrosse at Virginia Wesleyan College.

Coach of the Year

Russ LeBlanc, Susquehannock: In his first season back on the Susquehannock sideline after a three-year hiatus, LeBlanc led the Warriors to a 13-4 record and an appearance in the YAIAA finals. LeBlanc is considered a mentor by many local coaches, including South Western head coach Gary Hartsock. "I learned more about being a coach under his tutelage than I did in the previous 20 years combined," Hartsock said of LeBlanc. "He is a quality man, coach and friend."
