District 3 softball: Dallastown advances

Dallastown came away with a 2-1 softball win Tuesday over host No. 7 seed Warwick in the first round of the District 3 Class 6A tournament.

Dallastown will travel again in the second round, this time against YAIAA foe Central York, the No. 2 seed, at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

With the score tied at one in the top of the sixth, Elena Rosas doubled in pinch runner Sadie Bowman to give the Wildcats a 2-1 lead. Kayla Merriman went the distance for the No. 10 seeded Wildcats, striking out two.

Also in softball, New Oxford dropped a 5-0 decision to Lower Dauphin in the Class 5A first round. The No. 13 Colonials' season ends at 12-9 overall while the No.4 seeded Falcons will host No. 5 seed Spring Grove, a 6-1 winner over Garden Spot, Thursday.
