Monday's softball roundup: Caruso delivers go-ahead hit for Central York

CENTRAL YORK 3, SPRING GROVE 2 >> Kyla Caruso broke a 1-1 tie, giving the Panthers a lead in the bottom of the fifth inning with an RBI base hit. Kelsey Wisner followed with a sacrifice fly to pad the advantage on the scoreboard.

Rachel Butler was 3-for-3 with a triple for Central and Kayla Resh fanned seven Rockets in the win.

DOVER 5, WEST YORK 3 >> Natalie Cutright, Cassandra Root, Karsyn Blauser and Meghan Goodman each had two hits to lead the visiting Eagles. Cutright hit a home run and drove in three runs as Dover came back from an early 2-0 deficit. Kelsie Weaver had three of the Bulldogs' five hits in the loss.

YORK COUNTY TECH 9, HANOVER 7 >> After the Nighthawks took the lead in the top of the fourth inning, the host Spartans tied the game, then scored twice in the fifth en route to victory.

Winning pitcher Lindsay McWilliams also recorded three hits of her own, one of which was a double.

Lauren Smith and Emily Albright went 3-for-4 with a double in a losing cause for Hanover.

Julia Fraim had two hits and pitcher Allie Flemming helped her own cause with a double.

FAIRFIELD 16, YORK CATHOLIC 0 (3) >> The host Green Knights scored five times in the opening inning, before putting the game away with an 11-run second.

Winning pitcher Courtney Harbaugh struck out five Irish batters, plus went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Fairfield. The Green Knights benefitted from 11 walks in the three-inning contest.
