West York looks to 'Crosse Out Cancer'

Two teams that have been personally affected by the heartbreak that comes from dealing with cancer — the West York girls' and boys' lacrosse teams — hosted a charity event Wednesday to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Both teams feature players whose mothers are battling breast cancer right now, Bulldogs boys' head coach Rodney Tamblin said. Wednesday's charity event featured two games: boys' junior varsity vs. girls' junior varsity, then varsity vs. varsity.

The boys used girls' sticks and were coached by the girls' coaching staff, and vice versa.

The event was held inside the West York football stadium at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
