GameTimePA presents the top YAIAA girls' tennis players of 2016.

Christie Friedrich, Dallastown, sr.

Friedrich was the top player on a team that won the YAIAA Division I title and reached the District 3 Class 3A team semifinals. She finished as the league's Class 3A singles tourney runner-up and qualified for the district tournament. She also won a district doubles match with teammate Madi Reed before being eliminated by eventual the District 3 Class 3A champions in the doubles quarterfinals.

Dagney Markle, New Oxford, sr.

A year after finishing runner-up in the league, Markle captured the YAIAA Class 3A singles championship. She also teamed with Kamdyn Balko to win the league's doubles crown. A first-team all-star last year, Markle won her opening-round match in the district singles tournament but lost to eventual district runner-up Taylor Lopan of Manheim Township in the quarterfinals. Markle also helped lead the Colonials to the quarterfinals of the District 3 Class 3A team tournament.

Maddy Mummert, Central York, sr.

She placed third in the YAIAA Class 3A singles tournament with a straight-sets win against Michaela Sentz of South Western. Mummert qualified for the District 3 Class 3A singles tourney. She was an honorable mention selection and a YAIAA quarterfinalist a season ago.

Alyssa Neudecker, Delone Catholic, sr.

The league's defending Class 2A singles champ and district singles qualifier last fall, Neudecker was stunned in straight sets in this season's YAIAA quarters. She regrouped in doubles, teaming with her sister Ellie to defend the league's Class 2A doubles crown. She marched all the way to the District 3 Class 2A semis. A first-team all-star last season, she earned honorable mention in 2014.

Ellie Neudecker, Delone Catholic, so.

She replaced her sister, Alyssa, as Delone Catholic's singles champion by scoring gold in the YAIAA Class 2A singles tournament. She teamed up with her sister to give the Squirettes the league's 2A doubles crown for the second straight year. She advanced to the semifinals in district's singles and doubles tournaments. Delone Catholic went undefeated and won the championship in YAIAA Division II before advancing to the district team semifinals.

Liv Pindzola, York Suburban, so.

The No. 1 singles player for the Trojans this season, Pindzola capped her year by finishing as the YAIAA Class 2A singles runner-up and qualifying for districts. She teamed with Samantha Clancy to earn a runner-up finish in the league Class 2A doubles event and qualified for the District 3 Class 2A doubles tournament.

Kristyan Gates, Hanover

In her first year as head coach, Gates led the Nighthawks to a 6-7 mark after Hanover went winless a season ago. The Nighthawks won three matches in league play.
