York Catholic scores two early, hangs on late


At Northeastern High School, York Catholic scored two goals in the first half and hung on from there in the Irish 2-1 win over Northeastern in the first round of the YAIAA girls' soccer tournament..

MaCayla Welsh opened the scoring and Renee Bonner followed to put the Irish in control.

York Catholic head coach Joe Nattans also credited Eden Jahn, Carolyn Haskell and Jessica Brett with key performances in the win.

York Catholic will face Central York in Tuesday’s semifinals.

The contest is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Northeastern High School.
