Roundup: William Penn girls edge New Oxford


Madey-Zania Redman scored a game-high 23 points to help William Penn beat New Oxford, 59-55, in Wednesday's YAIAA Division I girls' basketball action.

The Bearcats took a 10-point lead after the first quarter before New Oxford answered to take a tie into halftime.

Redman poured in 13 of her points in the third quarter to key the Bearcats' winning 19-13 run. Chyna Steele added 16 points in the win, while DeJanay Givens added 15 as the Bearcats (11-7, 5-4) strengthened their hold onto a District 3 playoff position.

The Colonials (10-8, 4-5) received 17 points from Kaelyn Long and 12 from Breanne Sauter.

Kennard-Dale 42, Gettysburg 41: Emily Freese tied for a game-high with 14 points, all of them in the second half as the Rams erased a three-point halftime deficit to beat the Warriors.

Kennard-Dale went on a 13-8 run in the third quarter to open up a two-point lead entering the final eight minutes.

The Warriors received 14 points from Hanna James and 10 from Hailey Bortner.
