Northeastern RB Anu Johnson suspended one game

Northeastern running back Anu Johnson will miss this Saturday's game against William Penn due to suspension.

Johnson's one-game suspension was confirmed by Bobcats' head coach John Scepanski in a text message Wednesday afternoon.

The ruling came following Johnson's ejection from last Friday's game against Dallastown.

According to Scepanski following Saturday's game, Johnson was ejected during a play when his helmet was knocked off. According to Scepanski, officials ruled that when Johnson went to retrieve his helmet, he struck an opposing Dallastown player.

Scepanski said that Johnson inadvertently made contact with the Dallastown player.

Northeastern appealed the suspension with the PIAA, which upheld the ruling.

Johnson has rushed for 667 yards and six touchdowns this year, and is the leading rusher on the 4-2 Bobcats. The senior ranks ninth in the YAIAA in rushing despite missing essentially two games this season — Johnson exited the team's Sept. 23 game against Central York with a leg injury, and missed the following week's game against Red Lion as well. The Bobcats lost both contests.

The Bobcats will take the field against the Bearcats at noon Saturday. The game will be played at Small Field.
