PVCA rankings remain same at top

Nothing changed among the top two in Class AA or AAA of the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Rankings. Those teams will meet Saturday at Penn State for a pair of state championships.

The PVCA released an updated set of state rankings Wednesday after the conclusion of the PIAA semifinals. Northeastern remains atop AA and will face No. 2 Saegertown at 11 a.m. Saturday inside Penn State's Rec Hall. The AAA state final will follow and pits No. 1 Fox Chapel vs. No. 2 Parkland.

Those schools have remained in those spots for much of the season, but there were a few changes in this week's rankings.

In Class AAA, defending state champion Central York dropped from fourth to fifth. The Panthers traded spots with Seneca Valley after the Raiders topped them in four games Saturday during the state quarterfinals. District 3's Hempfield, which reached the AAA semifinals, jumped to third.

In Class AA, District 3 makes up three of the top five teams. After Northeastern, Lancaster Mennonite is fourth and Cocalico is fifth, thanks to its first-round state tourney upset of Ambridge.
