Northeastern handles Crestwood with ease in PIAA's opening round

Northeastern wasted little time in asserting itself in Wednesday's PIAA Class AA boys' volleyball tournament. After a quick Crestwood rally that tied the opening game at 3-3 the Bobcats ripped off nine-straight points, took a commanding lead, and swept Crestwood at Milton Hershey's Spartan Center.

The Bobcats will now face North Pocono, a 3-0 winner over Engineering and Science. Saturday's quarterfinal will take place at a site and time to be determined.

"I told our guys that I am pretty proud of how we handled ourselves, pretty proud," Northeastern head coach Matt Wilson said.

The first game featured an acrobatic save by Brandon Arentz that led to a Bobcats point and a 13-6 lead. From that point on it was all Northeastern, and now a familiar foe awaits in the state quarterfinals.

"We've faced them the last couple of years in the same rounds. It should be interesting. They're well coached, well skilled, and they'll run a bit of a faster offense than we saw here. I think they'll have a more diverse offense than what we saw tonight," Wilson said.
