Saturday's boys' volleyball roundup: Northeastern finishes second, Central fifth at State College Invitational


Here are Saturday's York/Adams boys' volleyball results. Check back often for updates.

STATE COLLEGE INVITATIONAL >> Central York took home fifth place at Saturday's State College Invitational after losing to Hempfield in the quarterfinals round by a score of 26-24. The Black Knights then took down Pennridge in the semifinals before defeating Northeastern in the finals (25-19, 25-19). The Bobcats, ranked No. 1 in District 3 Class AA, finished second overall at the invitational. finished second overall at the invitational.

On the day, the Panthers finished with a 4-3 match record, winning 9 of 13 sets played.

Hempfield is currently the top-ranked Class AAA team in the PIAA District III power rankings, followed by Central.

ELIZABETHTOWN TOURNAMENT >> The New Oxford Colonials took second place at the tournament. New Oxford went a perfect 8-0 in pool play and earned playoff wins against Conestoga Valley and Reading.

In the finals, the Colonials faced Schuylkill Valley, the No. 10-ranked team in the state, and fell in two games, 25-21, 25-18.
