Large contingent of YAIAA athletes earn top seeds heading into District 3 track and field meet


South Western's Lynne Mooradian, Biglerville's Danny Stoner and Hanover's DeAndre Kerr will lead a large contingent of YAIAA runners, jumpers, throwers and vaulters into Seth Grove Stadium on Friday and Saturday at the District 3 track and field championships.

Mooradian enters the event with a No. 3 seed in the 100, another third in the 300 hurdles, and a fourth seed in the 200 in the girls' AAA field.

Also joining Mooradian as a high seed in the girls' AAA field is York County Tech's Kirstyn Evans, who is tied for the No. 2 seed with three others in the high jump.

Stoner will come into the AA boys' portion of the championships as the top seed in the 300 hurdles and the pole vault. He is also the three seed in the long jump.

Kerr adds three top-three seeds in AA boys', coming in as the No. 2 seed in the 110 hurdles, and the No. 3 in both the 300 hurdles and triple jump.

Also in the boys' AA field, Stoner's teammate, Ben Hurda, earned the No. 3 seed in the javelin, while Delone Catholic's Tavian Dorsey earned the No. 2 seed in the 200 and the No. 3 seed in the 100.

In the girls' AA field, Delone Catholic's 400 relay and 3,200 relay teams both enter the event with No. 4 seeds. Littlestown's Bree Smith earned the top seed in the discus while Delone's Grace Reidel leads a large contingent of seven YAIAA vaulters in the pole vault field.

Also earning top-four seeds in the pole vault field were Delone's Tiffany Small and Fairfield's Cierra Phillips.

The Squirettes' Kate Mowrey earned a pair of top-three seeds, coming in at No. 2 in the 3,200 and No. 3 in the 1,600. Christian School of York runner Nicole Shelton is also in each field, as the No. 4 (3,200) and No. 5 seed (1,600). Rounding out the girls' AA field is Fairfield's Morgan Reed and Bermudian Springs' Gabrielle Emeigh, who came in as the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds, respectively, in the shot put.

Over in AAA boys', the Spring Grove 400 relay team enters as the No. 1 seed as does West York's Abdul Junaid in the 100. In the 800, Red Lion's Ethan Gatchell and Central York's Brook Wilson qualified as the Nos. 3 and 4 seeds while the YAIAA has another 3-4 seed duo in the 3,200 with South Western's Ben Schott and New Oxford's Aaron Gebhart.

The 110 hurdles has three YAIAA hurdlers in the top six. West York's Andrew Moyer, Dallastown's Owen Ritter and Dover's Shane Orchard come in seeded No. 4 through 6, respectively.

In the triple jump, the Gettysburg duo of Ravaughn Dillard and Kobe Wansel earned top-five seeds. Dillard enters as the No. 3 seed behind a pair of Carlisle jumpers and Wansel is the No. 5 seed. The long jump also saw a 3-5 qualifier combo as Phillip Marshall of York Suburban is the No. 3 seed and William Penn's Deshaun Horton is the No. 5 seed.
