For the second year in a row, Holden Koons is the District 3 Class 3A  singles champion in boys' tennis.

After facing some resistance from the competition on his way to the title last season, the Dallastown sophomore had little trouble this time. Koons didn't drop a set the entire tournament, and rolled past Cedar Crest's Dylan Tull 6-1, 6-2 in the finals Saturday at Hershey Racquet Club.

In total, Koons went 48-5 in games during the tournament. He beat Waynesboro's Evan Hine (6-1, 6-0) and Central Dauphin's Jason Kline (6-0, 6-0) on Friday to reach Saturday's semifinals, where he defeated Hersey's Dante Falcucci 6-0, 6-1.

More tennis: Koons captures York-Adams 3A singles title

With league and district titles once again under his belt, Koons' next goal is to go on a run at the PIAA championships at the end of the month. The sophomore was eliminated in the first round of states last season.

Koons was the only York-Adams singles player to reach the District 3 semifinals this season. In Class 2A, Littlestown's Brett Gill won his first match but lost in the quarters to Lancaster Country Day's Jonah Rebert 6-0, 6-1.
