Stoner caps stellar swimming career

LEWISBURG –  An outstanding career came to a close at the PIAA Class AAA swimming championships on Sunday when Dallastown’s Jake Stoner swam his final high school event, at Bucknell University.

Stoner, who earned a fourth-place medal in Saturday’s 100-yard butterfly, and was on the Wildcats’ 200 free relay that placed 19th, swam a 47.39 in the 100 free to finish in 19th place. The senior was all but right at his seed time in the 100 free.

It seemed almost fitting that teammate and close friend Logan Brockway competed on Sunday and also placed 19th with his time of 52.15 in the 100 backstroke after dropping 0.59 from his seed time.

The two have been training partners for most of their careers.

Brockway (junior), Joel Dunnigan (freshman) and Seth Schuler (sophomore), all of whom were on Dallastown’s state 200 free relay that was 19th, return next season.
