Delone Catholic boys' soccer coach resigns

Delone Catholic boys' soccer head coach Denton Thomas has tendered his resignation after four years as the Squires' head coach.

Thomas compiled an 18-41-1 record, though the team progressively improved during his time at the helm, culminating with a 7-9 record in 2015 that saw the team finish one spot out of qualifying for the District 3 Class A tournament.

The squad was 7-5 in YAIAA Division III play last season, finishing third in the division. It was the first time in program history that the Squires sported a winning record in division play.

Delone won just one match in Thomas' first campaign in 2012, then won five each in 2013 and 2014.

Thomas cited "personal reasons" for his resignation, but wished the program well.

"I enjoyed my time there working with the coaches and I love my players. I wish them nothing but the best and hope they do well," Thomas said.

Thomas was the head coach at Hanover for 10 years prior to making the move to Delone.
