Courtney Batts scored a team-high 16 points to help the Central York boys' basketball team beat William Penn, 63-54, on Tuesday night.

It was a key win in a tight YAIAA Division I race. Central took sole possession of third place in the division with Tuesday's win coupled with Dallastown's loss to New Oxford. The Panthers (12-7, 7-4) and Wildcats (11-6, 6-5) had entered the night with 6-4 divisional records.

Central York scored 40 points in the second half to slowly but surely pull away from the Bearcats (6-11, 4-7). Batts was one of four Central players who registered more than 10 points.

“Our guys did a great job of executing (the) game plan,” Panthers head coach Kevin Schieler said.

William Penn's Jacquez Casiano scored a game-high 22 points in the loss.
