Roundup: Eastern escapes Kennard-Dale with win


The Eastern York boys' basketball team survived a scare from Kennard-Dale on Friday night, pulling out a 60-59 victory after falling into a five-point halftime deficit.

The Rams (5-16, 1-13) took a 37-32 lead into the break, but the Golden Knights (16-4, 11-3) went on a 14-7 run in the third quarter.

Broguen Nicholas and Jared Achterberg led Eastern's second-half charge. Nicholas finished with 19 points, and Jared Achterberg had 12. The duo scored 19 of their 31 combined points in the second half.

Three-point shooting kept the Rams in the game: They knocked down 12 shots from behind the arc. Adam Freese led the 3-point parade with six, and Kyle Wooldridge added four. Each finished with 20 points.

Dallastown 59, New Oxford 54: The Wildcats knocked down 11-of-14 free throws in the fourth quarter, pulling out a victory against the Colonials.

Donovan Catchings led the fourth-quarter charge with six points, going 3-of-4 from the line and finishing with a game-high 19 points. Brandon McGlynn added a 5-of-6 performance from free-throw line in the final quarter.

New Oxford's Devon Duvall scored a team-high 18 points.

Delone Catholic 60, York County Tech 52: Evan Brady canned five from 3-point range to lead the Squires' balanced attack. Brady finished as Delone’s leading scorer with 17 points. Bryce Mundorff added 13 points, and Logan Alexander chipped in 12.

York County Tech's Kahleik Savery led all scorers with 21 points.

Bermudian Springs 59, Biglerville 41: Bermudian took a double-digit lead just over five minutes into the game, and Biglerville never got closer than nine points the rest of the way in the Eagles' victory at home.

The point total is a season-high for the Eagles, who assisted on 18 of their 26 buckets and shot 52 percent from the field.

"I thought our kids played well tonight," Bermudian head coach Tom Flaherty said. "They've given good effort all season long."

Quinton Nace led the Eagles with 18 points, while Tony Petrosky stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists.

Noah Ayers paced Biglerville with 12 points and scored the 1,000th point of his career when he bagged a 3-pointer from the top of the key with 6:03 left in the opening quarter.
