Dillard's career day lifts Gettysburg to win

Going into the fourth quarter of Friday's boys' basketball game between Gettysburg and York Suburban, the Warriors held a seven-point lead.

After the final eight minutes of the game, Gettysburg rolled to a 61-40 victory even while missing a total of 19 foul shots in the course of the game.

"We were horrendous from the foul line," Warriors head coach Jeff Bair said. "We left 19 points on the foul line. Wow!"

The foul shooting might have been the low point for the visitors, but the team had plenty of positives, including the performance of junior Ravaughn Dillard. He led all scorers with 29 points. Dillard also pulled down nine rebounds and was 7-of-14 from the foul line. The 29 points are a career high for Dillard.

"We were playing as a team and getting the easiest basket," Dillard said.

Gettysburg (10-5, 5-5 YAIAA Division II) broke a three-game losing streak by getting back to the basics.

"We just had to get back to the fundamentals and play as a team again," Dillard said.

Marquise Camel (13 points) and Devin Ringler (10) also finished in double figures for the Warriors.

"Devin was very good tonight," Bair said. "Defensively, he changed shots and rebounded like a beast."

The first and fourth quarters doomed Suburban (6-10, 4-6). The Trojans scored a combined six points in those two periods.

The Trojans were lead by Torrey Thomas' 11 points off the bench. Thomas hit three 3-pointers during the second and third quarters when Suburban scored a combined 34 points.

Five Warriors pulled down at least four rebounds.

"You have to be a team rebounding team and we were," Bair said. "It makes a big difference."
