Spring Grove wins title, Brooks reaches 1,000

Eli Brooks became the ninth Spring Grove boy to reach 1,000 career points, scoring 25 points in the Rockets' 63-49 victory against Warwick to win the championship game of the Warriors' holiday tournament.

Brooks, who needed 15 points to reach quadruple figures, reached the 1,000-point milestone in the third quarter. Only a junior, Brooks has drawn the attention of Division I programs.

Jared Smith, a 1993 graduate, is the Spring Grove boys' basketball all-time leading scorer with 1,676 points.

Spring Grove reached the championship game with a 54-42 victory against Lancaster Catholic Saturday.

Christian School of York Eighth Annual Holiday tournament

Biglerville 63, Dayspring Christian 36: The Canners’ Noah Ayers poured in 25 points to lead his team.

Biglerville advances to the championship game where it will face the winner of Christian School of York vs. Fairfield at 7 p.m.

Tulpehocken Holiday Tournament

Kennard-Dale 64, Columbia 54: Adam Freese scored 10 of his 13 points in the third quarter, leading the Rams to a victory over Columbia in the first round of the Tulpehocken Tournament.

Freese was one of three Rams in double-figures. Kyle Wooldridge led the trio with 18 points, while Jake Deppen added 17.

Hanover 54, Tuplehocken 30: Kyle Krout dropped in 19 points for the Nighthawks as he went 5-for-6 from 3-point range in the opening round win.

Will McQueen added 11 for Hanover, and Hunter Martz chipped in with 10.

Hanover faces Kennard-Dale in the championship game today at 8 p.m.

Holiday Classic at Hempfield

Central York 51, Wilson 38: Jared Wagner converted 10-of-13 free throws on his way to 16 points in the Panthers' opening-round victory.

Nathan Markey chipped added 15 points for Central.

The Panthers will face Hempfield in the championship game at 7:30 p.m. today.

York Country Day 84, New Covenant 39: DeAireus Brown dropped 31 points in the Greyhounds' opening-round win.

Jordan Ray added 13 points for Country Day, while Luke Greisler added 12. D.J. Hamilton had 10 points.

New Covenant was led by Jake Kyler with 17 points.

The Greyhounds will face Meadowbrook Christian in the championship game at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
