Q&A: Hanover boys' coach Nathan Myers

Nathan Myers is entering his ninth season as the Hanover High School boys' basketball coach. He sat down with GameTimePA.com to talk about the Nighthawks' upcoming season:

GameTimePA: The school's all-time leading scorer, Dylan Krieger, graduated. How do you go about replacing him?
Nathan Myers: We can not replace Dylan or any of the seniors that we graduated from last season. You cannot replace people. We hope to have other players step up and fill various roles for us this season.

GTPA: You faced a similar situation four years ago where you had a great season and then graduated a large portion of your roster. Are there any similarities or differences between then and what you are facing this year?
NM: There are some similarities between those two teams, but one huge difference this upcoming season is that we have two returning starters, Kyle Krout and Will McQueen. In 2011, we did not have any returning starters back as we graduated our top eight players. We will have to rely on Kyle and Will, especially early in the season, until our other players gain experience at the varsity level.

GTPA: Have any specific players shown significant improvement since last season and put themselves in position to see a much larger role as a result of it?
NM: Hunter Martz is returning to us this season at a guard position, Hunter missed his entire sophomore season due to an injury.

GTPA: What are the goals for the team this season?
NM: We want to work hard and improve everyday that we are in the gym. If we are able to come together as a team and gain varsity experience we will have a chance to compete every night.

GTPA: You've been coaching for quite a while. What are the motivations to keep going and what do you enjoy most about coaching?
NM: I still enjoy being part of a team, competing every day in the gym, and working with outstanding young men.
