Biglerville, Delone Catholic baseball suspended by lightning

After waiting out a 40-minute lightning delay, Biglerville and Delone Catholic played for 10 more minutes before another lightning delay brought on a suspension of their YAIAA Division IV baseball game Thursday afternoon at Yost Field in Biglerville.

At the time of suspension, the Squires held a 4-2 lead with one out in the top of the third inning. The game will be continued at 4:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Delone sent seven batters to the plate in the top of the first inning and scored twice. Austin Roth hit an RBI double to key the rally.

The Canners answered Delone's first-inning burst with their own two-run frame. Squires starter Hunter Keith struggled to find the strike zone, issuing four free passes in the inning, including a bases-loaded walk drawn by Seth Re. Chase Long followed with an RBI fielder's choice to tie the game. Hunter Kime then drew a walk to reload the bases before Keith induced a groundout to end the inning.

Then in the second, the Squires picked up two more runs with Roth once again keying the uprising with a run-scoring single.

With two down in the bottom of the second, the game was stopped for the first time after a lightning sighting.
