Tuesday's best: New Oxford knocks William Penn


The first big night of YAIAA basketball divisional action saw plenty of highlight-worthy results.

The New Oxford boys' basketball team pulled off its first win against William Penn in 13 years. The Colonials earned a 75-73 victory. New Oxford athletic director Brandon Renoll said the last time the Colonials beat William Penn was 2003.

A resurgent Kennard-Dale squad earned a 55-48, overtime against Gettysburg. Adam Freese scored six points in overtime for the Rams and finished with a team-high 21 points. Cade Eckhart scored 24 points for Gettysburg.

Susquehannock scored 23 points in the fourth quarter to edge York Suburban, 49-46.

Dallastown eked out a 59-53 win against Central York behind a combined 31 points from Da’Trail Albert (16 points) and Brandon McGlynn (15). Evan Czulada led Central York with 12.

Dover's basketball programs both beat West York. On the boys' side, Victor Dorm and Brady Bowman scored 14 points apiece in the Eagles' 54-46 win against West York.

And Dover's girls continued their torrid start to the season with a 48-30 victory against the Bulldogs. The Eagles improved to 3-0 on the season.

In other girls' action, Nikson Valencik scored a game-high 19 points in Central York's 65-48 victory against Dallastown.
