YAIAA top performers, March 29


New Oxford lacrosse standout Braxtin Reddinger put up her second consecutive 10-goal performance Tuesday night. Reddinger's total included her 200th career goal in the Colonials' 18-8 win against South Western, her former team.

That was just one highlight reel-worthy performance on a busy Tuesday night that saw a full slate of YAIAA sports. Here are the top performances:

Boys' volleyball

Dallastown's Nate Darr had 23 kills and Aaron Ward had 20 kills and 19 digs while Peyton Ranck served up 52 assists as the Wildcats beat Central Dauphin in five sets (25-19, 29-27, 26-28, 20-25, 15-8).

Track and field

Gettysburg's Dan Filler won three individual events (800, 1,600, 3,200) to lead the Warriors to a key early-season win against West York.

Softball

In a day filled with offense, six hitters lit up the stat sheets. York County Tech's Taylor Glace had a triple and a home run as the Spartans improved to 2-0 with a 6-5 victory against Bermudian Springs. ... In a losing effort, Red Lion freshman Taylor Radziewicz smashed a home run in her first varsity at-bat as Dover defeated the Lions, 3-1. ... Spring Grove's Julia Wivell went 2-for-2 with a home run, three runs scored and two RBIs, and teammate Brynn Sporer went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs as the Rockets beat Northeastern, 19-4 in three innings. ... Susquehannock's Allie Kerr went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, and Megan Green went 3-for-4 with six RBIs as the Warriors beat South Western, 18-3.

Lacrosse

In boys' lacrosse action , Jacob Norton had five goals and two assists, while Eli Doyle had four goals and Eddie Smith had a goal and four assists as York Catholic beat Susquehannock, which was our No. 1 team in the preseason power rankings. York Catholic pulled out the 17-14 win despite Dorian Faster scoring seven goals for the Warriors. ... In Central York's 18-9 win against Eastern York, T.J. Ross had six goals and two assists, while Katon Yantek and Will Hartzell each scored four goals. Yantek added three assists and Hartzell handed out two. ... Spring Grove's Bryce Kephart scored four goals and dished out four assists as the Rockets defeated York Suburban, 16-13. Collin Mailman scored eight goals in the loss.

In Fawn Grove, Kennard-Dale's girls' improved to 2-0 early with Maddie Day's six-goal performance. Morgan Bowings added five goals and two assists, while Emmie Dressel added four goals and three assists.

Boys' tennis

In a pair of thrilling 4-3 matches, South Western's No. 2 doubles duo of Patrick Kane and Ryan Hohman overcame singles losses to their opponents to win No. 2 doubles in three sets to give the Mustangs a crucial early season victory over a talented New Oxford squad. ...York Suburban's Tyr Abendschoen and Tom Platts secured the victory over Bermudian Springs with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles.

Baseball

Eastern York's Bren Taylor went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs to lead the Golden Knights to a 6-5 win over York Catholic. ....In another section 3-4 crossover, Bermudian Springs' Hunter Rang went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and a triple as the Eagles beat York County Tech, 8-4. ...and last, but certainly not least, Biglerville's Chase Long went 2-for-3 with a run scored and also picked up the win in relief as the Canners defeated Gettysburg, 4-3.

Friday, March 25

On the softball diamond, Central York's Cameryn Rothrock went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored as the Panthers defeated Waynesboro 12-0. Rachel Butler tossed a three-hit shutout with six strikeouts.

Meanwhile in western Pennsylvania, the three-time defending PIAA Class AA volleyball champs from Northeastern began their season with a huge sweep of Saegertown. The Bobcats beat Saegertown last year in the final. Reese Devilbiss led the Panthers' charge with 17 kills.

Saturday, March 26

At Northern York, the Susquehannock's girls' lacrosse team got a boost from Rachel Marshner, who scored a hat trick and added four assists in a 16-4 win against the Polar Bears. An all-league defender last season, Marshner is transitioning to an attacking role for the Warriors. Genna Speights added four goals while Kayla Held had one goal and six assists in the win.

Monday, March 28

On the baseball diamond, Kennard-Dale's Ben Lowe was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with three doubles, six RBIs and four runs scored as the Rams demolished Columbia, 15-2.

In girls' lacrosse action, Spring Grove's Casey Franklin scored eight goals in the Rockets' 16-8 win against Northern York.

Susquehannock's Allie Kerr went 3-for-4 with a first-inning grand slam as the Warriors beat Kennard-Dale 11-2 on the softball diamond. She also added a double and finished with six RBIs.
