Ballers vs Bloggers Episode 2: Bo Spiller vs John Buffone
The amount of time a grappler puts in to prepare himself to hit the mats is beyond most common sports fans' understanding.
I've always believed I was in adequate shape but thirty seconds into wrestling Solanco heavyweight Bo Spiller in GameTimePA's latest edition of "Ballers vs Bloggers", I realized I am nowhere near "wrestling shape".
Bo is 250-pound heavyweight that accumulated a 40-1 record in the 2014-15 season and racked up a league, section, district and regional championship before placing second in the PIAA Class AAA Tournament in March.
The Solanco senior has committed to wrestle at Bloomsburg University next year but I challenged him to one more match before he graduates high school in a couple months.
My wrestling experience is limited to say the least. That should go without saying if you have watched the video prior to reading this story.
Bo and I wrestled an abbreviated match consisting of three one-minute rounds. Needless to say, Bo took me to school with his repertoire of strength, speed and balance.
For those that aren't overly familiar with wrestling, take it from me; this sport demands stamina like you wouldn't believe. After just one shortened round (normal rounds are two minutes long), I felt as if I just sprinted a mile with a mule on my back.
Despite my best efforts to run away and pull off blatantly illegal headlocks, Bo disposed of me with relative ease.
Don't believe me? Watch it for yourself in this episode of "Ballers vs Bloggers".
A big thanks to Bo and Solanco wrestling coach John Little for making this episode possible as well as Solanco wrestlers Joey Davis and Wyatt Jennings for refereeing and scene production.
