NL's Brookelle Anderson has high finish in Dist. 3 swimming

Three individuals and a pair of relays from Lebanon County managed to place in the Top 10 at the District 3 swimming championships on Friday.

Northern Lebanon's Brookelle Anderson, competing in the girls Class 2A session in the afternoon, brought home a third-place finish in the 100 butterfly and also placed seventh in the 50 freestyle to highlight the first day's action.

The swimmers return to the pool at Cumberland Valley High School on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.

Anderson was seeded third in the 100 fly with a time of 1:02.58, and she bettered that by nearly two seconds (1:00.78) to finish behind Annabelle McCullough of James Buchanan (57.20) and Jenna Hufnagle of York Suburban (1:00.49).

In the 50 free, Anderson posted a time of 24.91, which was also under her seeded time of 25.98. She was seeded No. 11 in that event.

Palmyra captured a pair of fifth-place finishes in Class 3A girls action.

Ellie Keck garnered fifth place in the 100 fly with a time of 56.70. The Cougars' 200 freestyle relay team of Keck, Shealyn Trostle, Maddie Wolfe and Samantha St.Clair finished with a time of 1:38.97 to also take fifth place.

In boys 3A, Palmyra's 200 free relay team of Joe Bushta, Stephen Lyons, Ryan James and Nick Mosby) turned in a time of 1:28.66 to end up in seventh place.

Cedar Crest received a 10th-place finish in girls 3A from Caitlin Gelgot, who swam a time of 24.32 in the 50 freestyle.
