Led by Keck, Palmyra girls 4th at Mid-Penn Swimming


Led by another strong effort from junior Ellie Keck, the Palmyra girls swim team claimed fourth place in the team standings after the second and final day of the Mid-Penn Conference Swimming Championships on Saturday at Cumberland Valley.

Keck, who grabbed the silver medal in the 100 butterfly on Friday, added a third-place finish in the breast stroke on Saturday, while also swimming the anchor leg on the third-place 400 freestyle relay team.

Keck posted a time of 1:07.41 in her medal-winning breast stroke performance, and teamed with Maddie Wolfe, Samantha St. Clair and Shealyn Trostle to clock a 3:38.74 while making the podium in the 400 free relay.

St. Claire also nabbed an individual medal on Saturday, placing fourth in the 500 freestyle in 5:17.97.

Hershey ran away with the team title, piling up 517 points, and was followed by runner-up Cumberland Valley (337) State College (218) and Palmyra (192).

On the boys' side, the Cougars claimed a fifth place medal in the 400 freestyle relay courtesy of Stephen Lyons, Ryan James, Joe Bushta and Nick Mosby, who touched the wall in 3:20.85 to help Palmyra finish eighth in the team standings with 120 points.

State College won the boys team title with 489 points, and Hershey was the runner-up with 300.
