BOYS SOCCER: Annville-Cleona handles Lancaster Catholic, 4-0

The Annville-Cleona boys' soccer team kept a share of second place in Section Three on Wednesday with a 4-0 shutout of Lancaster Catholic in Annville.

While Elco was beating Donegal 3-2 in double overtime to stay deadlocked with A-C in the section, the Little Dutchmen were busy cruising to victory behind a three-goal first half that took any mystery out of the contest early.

Matthew Light, Gordon Parks, and Alex St. Clair all scored before intermission for A-C (11-3, 8-3), and Javier Sanchez Gonzalez scored in the second half for A-C, which enjoyed a 19-4 advantage in shots.

With three section games remaining, the Little Dutchmen own the tiebreaker for second place — and the league playoff berth that goes with it — over Elco after sweeping the regular season series from the Raiders.

MANHEIM CENTRAL 4, LEBANON 0 >> At Lebanon High, the Cedars' search for their first victory continued in vain despite 14 saves from Felix Kortright-Roman.

Niko Gavala scored twice for Central, which outshot Lebanon by a staggering 35-4 margin.

LANCASTER MENNONITE 5, NORTHERN LEBANON 0 >> In Lancaster, Mennonite made short work of the Vikings behind two first-half goals from Ben Breisinger.

Udit Jain, Dylan Campbelll and Matt Lynch also scored for first-place Mennonite, now 11-0 in Section Three and 11-2 overall.

Northern Lebanon dropped to 1-13-1 overall and 0-11 in the section.

PEQUEA VALLEY 7, LEBANON CATHOLIC 0 >> In Kinzers, the host Braves exploded for five first-half goals on the way to the lopsided victory.

Josh Stoltzfus netted a hat trick for Pequea Valley (7-8, 6-5 Section Three), which held Catholic (2-12, 1-10) to one shot and no corner kicks.
