SOFTBALL: Cat Wicker, Kayla Bonawitz lift Palmyra past CD East

The Palmyra softball team rode the right arm of senior pitcher Cat Wicker and the bat of shortstop Kayla Bonawitz to a 5-3 victory over Central Dauphin East in non-league softball action at Palmyra on Monday.

Wicker scattered seven hits and struck out six to notch the pitching win, and Bonawitz went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead a 10-hit attack.

Meagan Quigley and Rebecca Randall added doubles to the Palmyra win.

NORTHERN LEBANON 12, COCALICO 2 (5 INNINGS) >> In Fredericksburg, the Vikings racked up the mercy-rule win behind a 14-hit outburst fronted by a Briana Gibson home run.

Molly Mount and Kacey Smoot chipped in with doubles to support the pitching of Nicole Ditzler, who struck out four and yielded only five hits.

WARWICK 6, CEDAR CREST 2 >> In Lititz, the Falcons squandered a 2-0 first-inning lead in this Section One setback.

Cedar Crest managed a respectable nine hits in the loss, but it wasn't enough to counter Warwick's dozen hits and the four-run third inning the Warriors used to take control.

Also on Monday, Elco and Lebanon both endured three-inning mercy rule defeats. The Raiders fell to Lampeter-Strasburg 15-0 and Lebanon went down to Ephrata 21-3.
