SOFTBALL ROUNDUP: Cedar Crest doubles up Conestoga Valley


Maddie Gable went the distance, striking out nine and surrendering four hits, over a 4-2 Cedar Crest win at Conestoga Valley. After Gable gave up two runs in the first, the Falcons immediately answered via a couple runs in the second and one more in each of the sixth and seventh innings. Cedar Crest knocked out six hits against Buckskins starter Celine Schell, who walked three.

LANCASTER MENNONITE 8, ELCO 4>> Ahead 4-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth, the Raiders gave up six runs and dropped a road game to the Blazers. Claire Shaak pitched every inning for Elco, which collected six hits, including a Shaak double. Lancaster Mennonite hurler Kaleigh Gerringer struck out nine Raiders.

MANHEIM TOWNSHIP 13, LEBANON 1>> The Cedars could only last five innings at home against the Blue Streaks, who scored in every inning of their Section One-Two crossover win. Katty Roth took the loss for Lebanon, despite tallying seven strikeouts.

BISHOP MCDEVITT 13, PALMYRA 0>> On their home diamond, the Cougars were out-hit 10-5 and finished off by five allowed runs in the top of the seventh. Catherine Wicker recorded two strikeouts and handed out seven free passes from the circle.
