Cedar Crest's Gelgot 24th at states

It probably didn't last as long as Cedar Crest's Caitlyn Gelgot would have hoped, but it was still an experience no other Lebanon County female scholastic swimmer could claim.

The lone county female qualifier for the PIAA Swimming Championships, Gelgot placed 24th in the 50-yard freestyle on the opening day of competition at Bucknell University's Kinney Natatorium on Wednesday.

Seeded 18th heading into the meet, Gelgot posted a time of 24.42 seconds in her heat, a bit slower than her seed time of 24.14, en route to taking 24th out of 32 competitors.

The state meet continues through Saturday at Bucknell, with Palmyra's Teag Culver, Joshua Wakefield, Tanner Yaw, Ryan James, and Joey Giordano, and Annville-Cleona's Adam Fox and Cole Connelly all slated to be in action on Friday and Saturday in Class AA boys' competition.
