Palmyra girls lax ousted in district opener

The Palmyra girls lacrosse program has come a long way in recent years. So far, in fact, that the Cougars are now one of those programs that ends their season in the playoffs, not before them.

And so it was that Palmyra closed out its most successful season to date with a 20-9 loss at Wyomissing in the opening round of the District 3 2A playoffs on Monday.

The 11th-seeded Cougars concluded their season at 10-8 and led by five goals from senior Cheyenne Sprecher. Nikki Bowman added three goals for Palmyra, which fell behind 13-4 at the half and couldn't make up the difference.
