ROUNDUP: Elco girls take down Central, 49-32

The Elco girls basketball team fell just short in its bid to deny Northern Lebanon the Section Three title on Thursday night.

But the Raiders didn't expend all their energy in that hard-fought loss, as evidenced by their effort on Friday night.

Behind a game-high 15 points from freshman forward Ryelle Shuey, Elco rebounded from the NL loss with a 49-32 win over Manheim Central in Myerstown.

Chandelle Keller added 13 points for the Raiders, who improved to 12-7 overall and 9-6 in Section Three.

Elco jumped to a 22-14 halftime lead in part by holding the Barons to just three second-quarter points, then outscored the visitors 27-18 after the break to win going away.

Susquehanna Township 51, Palmyra 36: On Senior Night at Palmyra, the visitors ruined the party, trouncing the Cougars by 15 points.

The Cougars (10-8, 6-6 Mid-Penn Keystone) fell behind 17-3 after the first quarter and couldn't make up the difference.

Seniors Molly Gundermann, Josie Stovall and Kailey Werkheiser led Palmyra with eight points apiece.

Columbia 62, Annville-Cleona 42: In Annville, A-C was done in by the Crimson Tide's 24-point second quarter en route to the lopsided defeat.

MIchaela Singer led the Little Dutchmen (5-15, 4-11 Section Four) with 10 points.

West Shore Christian 46, New Covenant 29: At New Covenant, the Flames fell in a 13-3 first-quarter hole and couldn't recover from the slow start.

Kylie Murray continued to be a bright spot for New Covenant, pumping in a team-high 14 points in the loss.
