Palmyra boys volleyball done in districts

The Palmyra boys volleyball team's second season in program history has been one heck of a ride.

But now it's over.

The 10th-seeded Cougars were swept 3-0 by No. 2 York Suburban in the quarterfinals of the District Three Class AA tournament Monday, ending their 2016 campaign. The Trojans, who've lost twice all season, won 25-17, 25-14 and 25-20, playing at Northern York High School.

York Suburban's Zach Weinstein led all players with eight kills, while Sepehr Vakili and Jack Schultz each added seven. Gavin Dean notched a dozen digs and Kaleb Ansell racked up 29 assists.

For Palmyra (10-8), Mike Hall's five kills and four blocks both registered as team highs. Ben Rusling coupled his three kills with a club-best seven assists. The Cougars reached their first-ever district tournament last week and extended their stay via a 3-1, first-round win over Brandywine Heights.
