Cedar Crest's Muraika L-L runner-up

Jack Muraika didn't win the Lancaster-Lebanon League Flight One AAA singles title. But that's about all the Cedar Crest freshman didn't do in his first league event.

Muraika, Cedar Crest's No. 2 singles player, completed a stellar showing in his initial L-L tourney on Saturday at Conestoga Valley, advancing to the Flight One AAA final before falling to Manheim Township's Griffin Clark by a 6-3, 6-4 score in the title match.

Muraika, the No.5 seed, earned his title shot by upsetting top-seeded Calvin Athey of Hempfield 6-2, 6-1 in the semifinals.

Muraika's teammate, Lebanon County champ Nick Tull, fell to Clark 6-3, 6-3 in the semis, before bouncing back to defeat Athey 6-3, 6-2 in the third-place match to, along with Muraika, qualify for the upcoming District Three tournament.

Also, Saturday, Annville-Cleona's Santi Paris advanced to the Flight Four singles final with a 7-6, 7-5 win over Jarod Snader of Cocalico and will meet Andrew Bookman of Manheim Central in the title match on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

The doubles portion of the event will also be completed on Tuesday. Still alive from the county are Tull and Muraika in Flight One AAA and Mason and Linden Bennetch of Elco and Paris and Julian DyReyes-Kapp of Annville-Cleona in Flight One AA.
