Millersville's Brandon Miller drafted by Seattle Mariners

Millersville University junior pitcher Brandon Miller, of Ephrata, was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in the sixth round of the MLB First Year Player Draft, according to a news release.

Miller's 177th overall pick makes him coach Jon Shehan's fourth player to be drafted.

Miller will join fellow former Marauders Chris Murphy and Tim Mayza, who are currently pitching in the minor leagues. Miller was also the second Divsion II player taken in the 2016 draft, according to the release.

Miller was rated the No. 188 prospect in the draft, according to MLB.com, and was named as one of baseball AMerica's top Division II prospects prior to the season. According to an area scout, Miller is likely headed to the Everett AquaSox, a Class A Short Season affiliate.

Miller made a name for himself in the Cape Cod League after winning 12 games as a sophomore. He went 4-0 with a 1.50 ERA and was the only non-Division I player named to the season's end league all-star team. He has also won several awards for his skill.
