Lebanon County H.S. Highlights: Sept. 13


 

Player of the day

Bri Seip, Northern Lebanon girls soccer

Seip netted four goals in a convincing win against Lebanon Catholic. She scored all four within the game's opening 20 minutes, improving to a team-high six goals on the year. Seip's now helped lead the Vikings to a 2-1 start on the season.

They host Lancaster Mennonite on Thursday.

Game of the day

Elco boys soccer 1, Lancaster Mennonite 1 (2OT)

Udit Jain's goal for Lancaster Mennonite in the 71st minute denied the Raiders a major statement win on the road. Justin Kimmet struck for Elco 32 minutes after the opening kickoff. The Raiders now stand at 3-1-1 on the year and host Donegal in another key section showdown on Thursday.

Boys Soccer

Donegal 2, Annville-Cleona 1 (2OT)

A tough Section Three match was decided by Zac Runkle's second goal of the day in extra time. Eli Setlock scored on a penalty kick in the 56th minute.

Lampeter-Strasburg 3, Cedar Crest 1

Adam Brightbill netted the lone Falcons goal in a tough road test. Cedar Crest totaled five shots to the Pioneers' six.

Northern Lebanon 4, Lebanon Catholic 0

The Vikings produced three second-half goals, including a pair immediately after halftime, to knock off the Beavers. Northern Lebanon striker Rodrigo Urreta scored twice.

Mechanicsburg 1, Palmyra 0

The Wildcats jumped early in the 16th minute and never looked back in a home win.

Girls Soccer

Donegal 4, Annville-Cleona 2

Malin Hermanson and Reagan Hess each collected a goal for the Little Dutchmen, who trailed almost from the get-go at home. They travel to Lancaster Catholic on Thursday.

Lampeter-Strasburg 8, Lebanon 0

The Cedars surrendered seven goals before halftime and totaled 10 saves.

Northern Lebanon 8, Lebanon Catholic 1

On top of Seip's four goals, Megan Brandt added two while Alexis Kreiser and Jenna Wentling also found the scoreboard.

Elco 5, Lancaster Mennonite 0

Ryelle Shuey beat the Blazers for two goals and Emma Strickler racked up 11 stops in net to preserve a big home shutout.

Mechanicsburg 2, Palmyra 0

While the Cougars managed a scoreless tie at the break, they couldn't stop the Wildcats from leaving town with a win. Palmyra's Bailey Corrigan picked up a half-dozen saves.

Field Hockey

Elco 4, Lancaster Mennonite 1

Four first-half goals propelled the Raiders to a dominant road win. Hannah Williams scored twice.

Girls Tennis

Elco 5, Antietam 0

The Raiders dominated from start to finish, needing only one three-set match to complete their sweep.

Girls Volleyball

Northern Lebanon 3, Lebanon 0

The Cedars fought to a 26-24 first-set loss, then watched the Vikings leave with a shutout win. Northern Lebanon's Zoe Zerman finished with 13 kills and six digs.

Cocalico 3, Elco 0

After dropping a 25-22 opening set, the Raiders never surpassed 10 points again in a tough home loss. Peyton Kline had two kills and five digs.

Palmyra 3, Lower Dauphin 1

Melanie Sheaffer's 16 kills led the Cougars to a key road triumph. She also had a team-best four aces, as did Rachel Hutchinson.

Lititz Christian 3, New Covenant 0

The Flames lost 25-17, 25-17 and 25-15 at home. They travel to Linden Hall on Thursday.

Boys Cross Country

Cedar Crest 3, Warwick 2, Elizabethtown 1, Lebanon 0

Cedar Crest's Jesse Cruise and Adam Wolfe took the top spots with 17:03 and 17:04 times, respectively. The Falcons also finished in places sixth through ninth.

Lampeter-Strasburg 3, Elco 2, Annville-Cleona 1, Lancaster Mennonite 0

The Raiders took second and third place via Nick Madigan's 18:03 race and Ryan McAllister's 18:09 finish. Annville-Cleona's Doyle Shertzer recorded the top Little Dutchmen time in 18:37.

Manheim Central 3, Cocalico 2, Northern Lebanon 1, Garden Spot 0

Jordan Berger's 19:05 race was top among Viking runners and good for ninth overall. Northern Lebanon bested Garden Spot 25-30.

Girls Cross Country

Elizabethtown 3, Cedar Crest 2, Warwick 1, Lebanon 0

Cedar Crest's Ashley Stalnecker and Shayla Bonzelet sped to fifth and sixth place, respectively. Five other Falcons finished in the top 20.

Lampeter-Strasburg 3, Elco 2, Lancaster Mennonite 1, Annville-Cleona 0

In a Pioneer-dominated meet, Elco's Lily Brubaker posted a third-place finish at 21:18.

Garden Spot 3, Manheim Central 2, Cocalico 0, Northern Lebanon 0

Drashti Patel logged a 27:24 finish at Garden Spot, the fastest among all competing Vikings.

Golf

Section One match

Manheim Twp. cruised, taking the top five individual scores of the day and first place with a 302 team mark. Cedar Crest registered a 409 team score behind Nolan Hoover's 88.

Capitol Division match

Palmyra finished in the middle of the pack of a seven-team match with a 378 score. Quentin Leonard's 89 was best among all Cougars.
