Lebanon County H.S. Highlights: April 27

Game of the day

Cedar Crest softball 3, Conestoga Valley 2 (8 innings)

In South Lebanon, the Falcons walked off with the extra-inning win on Anna DeBellis' RBI single in the bottom of the eighth of this crossover clash.

Now 7-6 overall and 6-5 in Section One, Cedar Crest also got a 12-strikeout complete game on the mound from Maddie Gable. Ashley Maulfair and Bailey Perry-McClintic picked up RBIs in the win.

Player of the day

Mitch Long, Annville-Cleona

Long tossed a two-hitter in the Little Dutchmen's 1-0 home triumph over Donegal, which wrapped up a down stretch of crossover games on a high note. The veteran hurler recorded five strikeouts and only one walk, while smacking a base hit from the plate. This was Long's second straight start of at least six innings.

Baseball

Northern Lebanon 18, Lebanon Catholic 0 (3 innings)

Northern Lebanon senior Chase Dubendorf crushed a grand slam and a double to notch five RBIs on a day that yielded the Vikings' fourth straight win.

Conestoga Valley 7, Cedar Crest 1

The Falcons led 1-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth at Conestoga Valley before play bounced away from them. The Buckskins scored all seven of their runs in that fifth frame, when Cedar Crest starter Chad Ryland was forced to exit. Ethan Stickler finished as the only Falcon with two hits.

Annville-Cleona 1, Donegal 0

In Annville, the Little Dutchmen walked away with a close win thanks to Long's efforts and one run scored on a balk. Ben Rita gunned out a runner at home for the second straight game. Jordan Seyfert and Eli Setlock each had two hits.

Lancaster Mennonite 6, Elco 4

In Lancaster, the Raiders fell in a 6-0 hole after three innings and couldn't dig themselves out in time.

Kyle Rosengrant and Cole Miller led Elco with two hits apiece and Clay Hain struck out seven in four solid innings of relief work.

Lebanon 14, Columbia 0 (5 innings)

Cedars senior Danny Caricabeur struck out five over an abbreviated complete game, while fellow co-captain Austyn Yerger accounted for four RBIs and three runs. Lebanon returns to action Friday for a 7 p.m. date with Northern Lebanon at Wenger Field.

Softball

Northern Lebanon 16, Lebanon Catholic 1

In Fredericksburg, the Vikings used the long ball and a 14-hit attack to subdue the Beavers in three innings.

Emma Kelliher, Mel Showers and Kaylee Mauser each homered as Northern Lebanon rolled to the mercy rule win, which ended with a 10-run bottom of the third for the host Vikings.

Elco 10, Lancaster Mennonite 5

In Myerstown, the Raiders smacked 13 hits, including  five triples, to double up Mennonite in this Section Three-Four crossover.

Amaya Phillips led the way with three hits, including a pair of triples, and four RBIs and Beth Wiczalkowski, Sara Bentz and winning pitcher Sarah Yermalovich also tripled in the win.

Donegal 10, Annville-Cleona 0

In Mount Joy, A-C went down in five innings, battered  by 15 hits from the Section Three powerhouse.

A six-run Donegal fourth all but decided the contest and brought on the mercy rule.

Manheim Township 11, Lebanon 0 (5 innings)

In Neffsville, the Blue Streaks' Reilly Gearhart no-hit the Cedars and struck out all but one Lebanon hitter - 14 - en route to the mercy rule win.
