SWIMMING: Tuesday, Chambersburg splits with Herd

CHAMBERSBURG - Chambersburg’s boys swim team gained a little revenge for a narrow loss a year ago, while the girls ran into a buzzsaw.

In a Tuesday afternoon Mid Penn Commonwealth Division meet, the Trojan boys topped Carlisle 98-76, and the girls were defeated by the Herd, 125-45.

“The boys lost by one point to Carlisle last year, and they came ready to go and raced hard,” Chambersburg coach Chad White said. “We were fired up and raced sharp. We tried to load up the relays and we won all three today.”

Avery Barley (200 IM, 100 fly), Andrew Leeper (50 free, 100 back) and Jacob Greenwood (200, 500 free) each won a pair of events for the Trojans (3-5 (1-4 MPC), while Julian Chance won the 100 free.

White said, “Barley had awesome times in all of his races - he looked really fast today, especially on his underwater dolphin kicks.”

The Chambersburg girls (1-7, 0-5 MPC) ran into a tough customer in the Herd, who have beaten Cumberland Valley and Hershey this year, and did not win any races.

White said, “I was impressed with Kandace Loup, who had her best times in her events, and Amanda Asbury had a good meet. Her 50 free gets faster each meet and she took third today.”
