F-F Highlights: Southern Fulton, Fannett-Metal fall in D5 semis

The Southern Fulton baseball team's impressive winning streak in the District 5 tournament came to an end Wednesday in a 2-0 loss to Meyersdale in a District 5 Class 1A semifinal game -- marking the Indians' first district loss since 2013.

Meyersdale put up a one-run lead in the top of the first inning before adding an insurance run in the sixth.

Riley Christner struck out eight Southern Fulton batters on the way to the shutout victory.

Gabe Stotler got the nod for the Indians and struck out five batters through five innings before being relieved by Carl Potter in the sixth. Tanner Elbin hit 2-for-3 for Southern Fulton (15-6-1).

F-M falls in extra innings: The Fannett-Metal softball team let a five-run lead slip in the final innings of a District 5 Class 1A semifinal game against Shanksville, ultimately falling 7-5 in eight innings.

Shanksville began chipping away at the lead before scoring three runs in the top of the seventh to eventually force extra innings and punch its ticket to the district championship game.

Fannett-Metal's Brooke Harris pitched a complete game and broke the school record for most innings pitched in a season (138.3 innings pitched).

Jamie Adams had two hits and two RBIs for the Tigers (15-6).
