P.O. Honor Roll: Area pitchers shut out opponents


SAMI BARMONT, Shippensburg softball: Barmont threw a three-hit complete-game shutout and fanned 12 batters along the way in a Mid Penn Colonial Division game against Boiling Springs.

KELTON CHASTULIK, Chambersburg track & field: Chambersburg's Kelton Chastulik broke the school record in the discus not once, but on all three of his throws in a Mid Penn Commonwealth loss to Mifflin County on Tuesday. His first throw of 178-1 broke the 16 year-old record by 12 feet. Chastulik also threw 169, 167 and 165-9.

COURTNEY COY, Shippensburg softball: Coy hit a grand slam for her 100th career hit in a dominant Mid Penn Colonial Division win over Big Spring. She also hit a three-run dinger to end the game in the fourth inning. She finished the day with nine RBIs and also earned the win on the mound, throwing a three-hit shutout. Coy added a two-run home run in another division win over Boiling Springs.

BROOKE EMGE, Shalom Christian girls soccer: Emge wrapped up a 2-0 week for the Flames, combining for 10 goals. She scored six against Highview in a nonleague contest and put up four in the first half of an MDCC game against Broadfording.

ALICEN HOOVER, Greencastle-Antrim softball: Hoover was 4-for-4 with seven RBIs in a dominant win over Big Spring during the Bulldog Softball Invitational.

AUSTIN KOPP, Chambersburg baseball: Kopp had a strong day on the mound for the Trojans in a 2-1 win over Cedar Cliff, allowing just three hits in his complete-game performance. He struck out three batters.

DALTON LEAB, James Buchanan track & field: Leab crushed the area record for the season in the 1600, winning the all-important mile race in 4:41 against Waynesboro to clinch the Mid Penn Colonial Division title. Leab also won the 3200 in 10:45.

COLBY MAUN, Shalom Christian baseball: Maun threw a two-hit shutout against Broadfording to lead the Flames to their fourth straight win. Maun also had three hits in a crushing 22-1 victory over Calvary.

CHASE NOVAK, McConnellsburg baseball: Novak hit a two-RBI double to tie the game against Southern Fulton, setting the scene for a rivalry upset for McConnellsburg.

ABBY REITZ, Greencastle-Antrim softball: Reitz had three RBIs, including a two-run home run against Waynesboro, and had two hits against Big Spring.

OLIVIA REMENICK, Greencastle-Antrim softball: Remenick pitched a three-hit shutout, and struck out 11 batters in a 10-0 win over Big Spring to clinch the Mid Penn Colonial Division title. She also went 4-for-4 at the plate and had two RBIs.

JAMAL RILEY, James Buchanan track & field: Riley was a three-time winner in a Mid Penn Colonial Division meet against Waynesboro, claiming the 100, 200 and the long jump as the Rockets clinched the division title for the first time in 12 years.

BRIDGETTE RITCHEY, McConnellsburg softball: Ritchey had two RBIs in a narrow win over Northern Bedford, and knocked in three runs off two hits, including a home run in a loss to Southern Huntingdon.

DALTON STRITE, Chambersburg boys volleyball: Strite racked up 10 kills, four aces and 17 digs for the Trojans in a big win over York Suburban.
