F-F Highlights: G-A, JB match is forfeit-filled


The wrestling match at Greencastle-Antrim did not take very long Thursday night.

The Blue Devils took a 42-9 Mid Penn Colonial Division victory over rival James Buchanan and only four bouts were actually wrestled. There were five weights with no contest.

The teams split the four matches wrestled. G-A had pins by Dylan Neikirk (126) and Ethan Zimmerman (132), while JB had a pin by Derek Pine (120) and a 12-7 decision for Hunter Adkins at 160.

The Blue Devils picked up five forfeit wins.

Unsung hero

There was a new leading scorer for Southern Fulton’s girls basketball team in a 48-37 win over Northern Bedford on Thursday night.

Sophomore Drew Gordon exploded for 22 points, five better than her previous career high, and she grabbed 13 rebounds to cap off a double-double. Gordon was 10-for-15 from the line.

The Indians (3-0, 2-0 SHL, 1-0 ICC) trailed by nine points after the first quarter, but then outscored the Panthers 31-9 over the next two quarters to run away with it. Olivia Mottern also contributed 19 points, and Lindsey Hollenshead had four points and four assists.

Close losses

Cumberland Valley earned a 39-24 Mid Penn Commonwealth Division wrestling victory over Chambersburg on Thursday night by taking the majority of close decisions.

The Eagles won four close bouts in the middle - Russell Zimmerman 4-1 over Spencer Runshaw at 126, Jake Barrick 5-3 over Cole Grove at 132 on a takedown with 0:09 left, Will Kaldes over Drake Brenize 1-0 at 152 and Quentin Milliken 9-7 over Luke Nichter at 160.

The Trojans’ only tight win came at 220, Dalton Grace with a 3-1 win in sudden victory over Austin Kupko. Seth Runshaw, Aaron Rump and Drew Peck had pins for Chambersburg.
