Girls volleyball

Shalom Christian 3, Cumberland Valley Christian 0: The Flames rebounded from their first loss of the season by taking a 3-0 victory over rival Cumberland Valley Christian on Friday, winning games of 25-13, 26-24 and 25-21. Shalom is now 5-1 (4-1 MDCC).

For the Blazers (3-4, 2-4 MDCC), Mackenzie Householder tallied 18 assists and six digs, Brianna Miley led in kills with seven, digs with eight and aces with three, Hunter Timmons and Ashley Winters each had four kills, Kaitlin Provard made three blocks and Taylor Heck contributed five digs.

Haley Bricker was a force at the net for Shalom, totaling 11 kills and three blocks.Lauren Stains had 15 digs and seven aces, Kylie Eby rolled up 21 assists, Paige Hoover had six digs and Bethany Blank had five.

Shanksville 3, Southern Fulton 0: The Vikings won games of 25-16, 25-18 and 25-8. For the Indians (2-2), Madison Breeze had nine digs and 2 kills, Shaelyn Wawro had two kills, Olivia Mottern had two blocks and Sierra Lashley had a pair of aces.

Boys soccer

Shalom Christian 6, Cumb. Valley Christian 1: Jonah Stains and Peter Livermore split four goals evenly to lead the Flames over MDCC rival CV Christian. They both scored twice in the first half and Chase Martin added a goal as Shalom (8-0, 6-0 MDCC) raced out to a 5-0 advantage.

In the second half, Jerry Min made it 6-0 before Kenneth Hott got one back for the Blazers (3-5, 2-5 MDCC) on a pass from Eric Woo. Livermore and Tucker King had assists for the Flames.

Shalom coach Chris Lehman said, "Once again, I thought our defense played another excellent game, and this time we had some nice finishes, both with our feet and with our heads."

Southern Fulton 3, Forbes Road 1: The Indians took a 2-1 lead into the half and added an insurance goal to hand the Cardinals a Sideling Hill League defeat. Cam McCray had a hand in all three goals, assisting on two and scoring the other.

Chase Varner had a goal and an assist and Jacob Silver scored the other goal for SF (2-2, 2-1 SHL). For Forbes Road (0-4, 0-3 SHL), Aaron Schepis hit the back of the net.

Girls tennis

James Buchanan 3, East Pennsboro 2: Rachel Martin (No. 1) and Meridith Sanders (No. 2) won in singles for the Rockets (10-2, 6-2 MPC), while Abby Mackling and Megan Hoffeditz earned a win at No. 1 doubles to guide JB to the victory. Sanders survived a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win over Olivia Otstot.
