H.S. Highlights: Greencastle scoots by East Penn

Greencastle-Antrim finally made its way back to the baseball diamond Monday, and came away with a 2-1 win over East Pennsboro in non-league action.

Although the Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, the Blue Devils (2-0) quickly responded.

In the top of the third with two outs and no one on, Greencastle's Myles Gayman delivered a single, and he was followed by a walk to Austin Branchman. Matt Kline then smacked a single to drive in courtesy runner Logan Dixon, and another RBI single from Quin Ambeault provided the winning run.

"It was nice to see our guys respond," G-A coach Eric Shaner said. "We fell behind early on an unearned run, but nobody pouted; nobody put their head down. We answered and then basically held on the rest of the way. We did a lot of little things well."

Gayman picked up his second win on the mound. He went five innings, allowed just three hits and struck out five. Kline closed out the final two innings to pick up a save.

"It was an awesome game between two really good pitchers," Shaner said. "(East Penn's Drew) Miller is going to Millersville, and he's an outstanding pitcher. He beat us last year. To watch him and Myles go at it, then even Matt Kline at the end, that was pretty special."

Gayman, Kline and Ambeault all finished with a pair of hits.

Lower Dauphin 20, Chambersburg 9: The Trojans scored a season-high nine goals, but it wasn't enough to overcome Lower Dauphin in a Mid Penn Conference matchup. Cedric Adams and Haden Ocker each scored a hat trick for Chambersburg (0-5, 0-3 MPC), which was hindered by an early illegal stick penalty, which helped LD score seven goals in three minutes. The Falcons led 10-2 after the first quarter.

"It's been a long season with our young pups, but they seemed to come alive tonight," Trojan coach Paul Flohr said. "But we're still only winning less than 20 percent of the faceoffs, and it's killing us."
